Explore the natural and cultural importance of water through expressive, hands-on art. Students will use watercolor to create flowing river scenes and rain-drenched landscapes, experiment with salt and wax resist to capture water’s movement, and blend soft pastels to reflect sky and water interactions. They’ll also practice ink brush painting, a technique rooted in East Asian traditions, using delicate strokes and fluid ink to portray water-inspired imagery. Students will finish the quarter by making their own handmade paper, connecting the artistic process to the element that shapes both nature and creativity.
